4statesmusic.com Find a gig...find
a musician!
See the link, below, to
get to the ads.
Welcome to 4statesmusic.com You'll find nothing fancy here. No steaming
media, no Flash or Shockwave. You've come here for one of two reasons, either
to find a musician or get yourself into a band.
First, a little about this site and why I've built it. Maybe "built"
is a little strong but you know what I mean.
My name's
Larry. I've been
a drummer and
vocalist for almost 30 years and, while I'm now based in southeast
Kansas, I've played
in all 10 provinces of Canada and some of the U.S.. I know, as well
as anybody, what it's like to try to find a decent gig when you live in
a somewhat secluded area. You can spend a fortune in classified ads, photocopies
and postage, and especially gas, just trying to find some people to play
with.
For this reason, I decided that the musicians in the 4 states
region of Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas could use a hand. I know
there's a lot of area to these states so I'm trying to limit access to
people living and/or working in this area. For reference, the 4 States
area covers from Springfield, MO to Coffeyville, KS, Chanute, KS
down to Fort Smith, AR and southwest of Vinita, OK. (See the map above).
If you're on the fringes of this area, by all means, drop me a posting
and I'll do what I can! I just don't see a lot of sense posting an ad for
a band in Seattle or Boston, MA.
As I mentioned above, the workings of this site are simple. If you're
a musician looking for a gig, or a band looking for a player, simply email
me at gigs@4statesmusic.com
and ask me to post your notice.
This is a sample of the info I think you should put in your ad. You can
also attach a picture (.jpg format), if you want, and even a 2-3 minute mp3
of your abilities. All I ask is that it truly be a sample of your
stuff and not a sample of the style of music you play. I
reserve the right to edit any pics or mp3's if they're too big. All
items submitted will remain the property of the individual. I will only use
them for your posted ad.
Name:
What part of the 4 States are you in? AR, OK, KS or MO?:
Instrument(s), played or looking for?:
Vocals, lead or harmony:
Experience, lots, some, just starting out:
What kind of music do you play or would like to play?:
Part time or Full time?:
Do you have a website? url?:
Do you have transportation?:
How far are you willing to travel?:
Contact info: This should be left at an email address only, for obvious
reasons.
Be creative! Your ad doesn't have to be in cold, point form. Just
don't make it too wordy because I'll post the verbage as I get it. No editing,
etc. (Let's face it, artists can be pretty wordy about themselves. For
example, see my web page link, above. haha!)
I'll try to post ads as quickly as possible but remember, I have
a full time job too, so give me a little slack if I'm a day or so in getting
yours on the site.
Ads will stay posted for approximately 90 days, give or take. If
you see it's come down, just drop me another copy of it and I'll repost.
When I take down your ad, I'll also delete any attached files. At
the same time, if you find a gig or player, please let me know and I'll pull
your ad so you don't keep getting unneeded emails.
As this is a new venture, there'll be some growing pains, I'm sure. For
now, I'll be running the "Musician Looking" and "Band Looking for..." ads
together. If it gets to the point of needing separation, I'll put
them on two different pages.
I have just 2 requests.
a) Spread the word! We all know that networking is the best
way to make new contacts and that's exactly what I'm hoping to accomplish
with 4statesmusic.com.
and
b) Whether you have an ad to post, or not, I'd appreciate it if you'd
drop me an email and let me
know of any gigs in your area. By gigs, I'm talking about venues that offer
live music. No dj's, no dinner theater,
just live music, whether it's a single, duo or full blown concert
venue. I'd appreciate the name of the venue, address, phone number and
a contact name if you have it.

Many thanks & Happy Gigging!
